Day 7.

Oct 3, 2024. We are safe. No water, electricity, or internet at our offices or homes, but safe. Hurricane Helene hit Asheville last week and the damage has been catastrophic.

Swannanoa and French Broad rivers rose dramatically.  Entire neighborhoods and infrastructure devastated. Some towns are completely gone. Electric wires and meters are lying on streets. Main water lines, along with the access roads for repair efforts, have been washed away with no timeline for repair. Officials are predicting weeks.

phdwnc has helped neighbors with fallen trees, water, and debris issues, but we need to do more. We are planning to pause the main work on current construction projects to help our community with donation-based emergency repairs and with plans to help with permanent repairs after utilities and insurance claims.

If you WANT TO HELP now, please donate for materials and to pay our crew. We will document our services on our instagram feed where 100% will be used towards emergency repairs in our community, which include structural issues, roof repairs, basement debris/water (mold), etc.

If you or someone you know NEEDS HELP, please text us at 828.782.0286 with “emergency repairs” and then your name, address, and need of repair. If you need permanent repairs, please email info@phdwnc.com or complete the form below with similar information and whether it will be self or insurance paid.

Although a major disaster, to watch neighbors come outside their unlit homes, away from their technology, and offer to help others is such a beautiful thing.  Whether they are simply communicating by spreading news coverage, which creek to get flushable water, times and locations of drop sites for potable water or trash; or physically assisting with tree and debris removal, it’s scary but magical.
